Weybridge Christmas Trees & Lights Fundraising Campaign
A Crowdfunding project has been created to support Weybridge Business Group raise funds for improved lights in our Town this year.
As you know it’s a struggle to make an impression without funding and although we try very hard to decorate our wonderful Town your kind donations and input are invaluable.
This year we are asking all the major companies in Weybridge to help and we already have pledges from Waitrose and Morrisons which is fantastic however we do need to ‘club together’ to make this year the best yet to make your shopping experience a pleasure.
The plan is more or less the same as last year with a large tree at the bottom of Baker Street (outside LeQuest) and one on Monument Green. Each tree costs a minimum of £650 + vat which we cannot recover and we would like to be able to add more lights to these trees plus the trees in the High Street and perhaps offer a reduced cost to each retailer for their shop Christmas trees.
We hope you will be able to help us raise the funds we need to help with this.
All Donations, no matter how small or large from local businesses and residents are appreciated. Visit the page using the button below
Correction To Previous Statement Regarding Support From Elmbridge Borough Council
“The original crowdfunding page was put up by a supportive Weybridge resident who was unaware that the Council provided funding for the Weybridge Xmas lights and she has since kindly amended the paragraph saying ‘Sadly our Council will not fund Christmas lights.’ to correct this local misinformation on her crowdfunding page.
We are working closely with the Weybridge Town Business group on their plans for Christmas and in addition to the lights the Council will be putting up, we are helping to link Sharon and her team to local businesses to help the sponsorship drive for extra lights, offering additional support through our business grant to work toward the fundraising target and helping progress the sign offs and permissions for the switch on event.. ”Doug Perkins - Organisational Development, Elmbridge Borough Council
“As a Weybridge mum of three (with one of my children actually being born on Christmas Day) Christmas is very important to me and I see it as not just a time for family to get together but also for the local community to get together. What better way to kick start the Christmas spirit than to get the community and local businesses together to raise funds for our town’s Christmas lights and getting excited for the day they see their efforts in place with a magnificent tree that they helped to fund.
I’m also arranging personalised baubles to place on the tree for everyone that donates £10 or more which can be used to promote a business (with a logo) or remember a loved one with a photo/name etc. ”Angel-Clare Grant, Weybridge Resident & Organiser of this Crowdfunding Project
