The Great Weybridge Cake Off - Baking Competition by Weybridge Town Business Group
The Great British Cake Off - Baking Competition by Weybridge Town Business Group

The Great Cake Off & Artisan Food & Craft Market in April 2017 was a great success, with an amazing 73 entries in the baking competition!

This was a new event organised by Weybridge Town Business Group as one of a number of events in the year to generate community spirit and to support the town centre. The prizes were presented by local TV Celebrity Ruth Langsford, who was also one of the judges.

The other 5 judges were representatives from local food related traders and the WI. Pictured above with Ruth are Gemma Woods (The Kitchen Shop), Dorinda Brittle (Weybridge WI), Robert Navarro (Waitrose) and Jonathan Woodgate (Simply Cakes). The other member of the judges was Chris Bachmann (Bachmanns Patisserie).

Competition Results

There were 3 categories in the competition, Small Bakes, Family Bakes and Celebration Cakes, with separate age groups for children and adults.

The overall prize for Best In Show, chosen by Ruth Langsford was Lucia Clark, for her entry in the Under 12 section. Her winning carrot & chocolate cake can be seen below. She was presented with a baking themed picture kindly donated by Bluebell 33, from the appropriately named Baker Street!

There are photos of Lucia and most prize winners receiving their prizes in the photo gallery (one person was too fast for this photographer!).
