“It’s hard to believe that we have been celebrating the All Our Yesterdays service for 2 years this month. Just where does the time go?
Back in October 2015 it was very much something of an experiment but we generally get between 40 and 60 people who join us for this very special and unique service. We have many regular attendees but it’s also nice to see those who pop in when they can and those for whom it’s their first time.
Favourite hymns and readings are well received and, dependent on the stage of the person with dementia, it is humbling to see them singing when they recognise a particular hymn. Even if they cannot read the service sheet the organ music sparks a remembrance from times gone by.
Of course, the service is open to everyone and we welcome our own congregation and those from other churches. We are very lucky with the number of volunteers who make this service possible and it is down to their dedication that service can be held.
The tea, cake and social time is just as important as the service and representatives of the Alzheimer’s Society are around to help with any queries.”

Alzheimer's Society leading the fight against dementia

Come and join us for half an hour of favourite hymns and readings.

This is a service especially suited for people with dementia and their carers.

Refreshments and social time.

It’s a short service followed by tea and cakes at the back of the church – a very joyful occasion.
