Music on the Green Concert: Mihi Kim, Flute & Mikhail Shilyaev, Piano
The enchanting sounds of the flute and piano are captivatingly executed by two exceptional musicians at this month’s lunchtime concert. We are most fortunate to have performers who have established an international reputation winning many awards throughout their careers.
Mihi Kim studied the flute at an early age in Korea and amongst many successes went on to win first prize at the International Music Competition of Bayreuth in 2000. She is currently Professor for flute and piccolo at leading music establishments in Paris.
Russian born Mikail Shilyaev has also won many competitions including first prize in the intercollegiate Beethoven competition organised by the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe and the Myra Hess award. He continues to perform as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe.
MUSIC on the GREEN is based at Christ Church Esher directly opposite and overlooking Esher Green. Its aims are to promote a wide variety of excellent music, to present music in a fresh and engaging way, and to encourage audiences from Esher and beyond.
Our concerts take place in Christ Church at the heart of Esher – a church which boasts an outstanding pipe organ, fine grand piano acquired in 2012 with a very generous loan, and good acoustics which all contribute to making our music so enjoyable.
MUSIC on the GREEN is about making music which is accessible to, and enjoyable by, as many people as possible without it being stuffy or cheapened. This is the reason for the MUSIC on the GREEN ‘brand’ – to give the music an identity of its own.
Music is about people, emotions, history… We blend all these ingredients and seek to present our music in interesting and rewarding ways, within its own context so that it can be widely appreciated and enjoyed. Whilst having our firmest foot planted at the classical end of the spectrum, we seek to offer a rich and varied listening programme.
